review...
The most sedate, warmly melodic and ethereal of Endgame releases, with notable nods to Brian Eno's "ambient" works, the subtle 70's Vangelis, and the oh so dreamy Tangerine Dream, yet still uniquely Endgame, surreal and evocative. Want an easy step into the world of Endgame? Then start here!

Jim's cover notes...

This album is a retrospective compilation, an attempt to close the first chapter of Endgame's history. There may yet be further releases culled from the 1999 period (which produced nearly 29 hours of music) but for now "Fragile" is a summary, a "wrapping up" of five choice pieces which did not make it onto previous releases.

For an Endgame album, "Fragile" has an unusually strong melodic focus, containing some of the most haunting themes to fall out of my synth onto tape. "Looking Glass Asylum" is unashamedly kosmische yet indisputably Endgame, while "Zygote" is one of our most ambient pieces, a ghost suspended in a dark void. "The Connecting Land Mask" appears to fuse Eno together with Vangelis, while "The Dying Embers of 1999" puts Riley's cyclical keyboard feel in a brooding atmosphere. "A Horsehead Mass" still sounds, to my ears, unique!
