review... Nottingham's supreme cosmic ooze
masters, The Interstellar Cementmixers, are pioneers of a unique branch of
synthesizer based music, one part melodic Teutonic (i.e. in the spirit of
early works by the Berlin masters Tangerine Dream, Klaus Schulze or Conrad
Schnitzler) and one part an explorative innovation that's all their own. We
first reported on them way back in 1990 in Audion when their music was a kind
of primordial industrial electronic soup, more akin to some demented
electronic Throbbing Gristle or Konstruktivits. After that the duo of Rich
and Dump, advanced in leaps and bounds, largely leaving such industrial roots
behind. MANEQUIN AMBERGINE "an oozing slab of synths and dark
soundscaping. Typical of their style, although a bit more melodic than
previously, getting closer to some earlier works by Nightcrawlers and
Lightwave." ENCAPSULATED TURQUOISE "weird sound-worlds in the
nether regions beyond synth music, with bubbling electronics and sub-rock
avant-garde structures". CATACOMB DISCORD took that angle further. That
was originally a c90 cassette, and is now expanded as the 2 disc set with an
additional 36 minutes of unreleased material. DISLODGED RESONANCE was their
