releases... review... OK dada, this is where the fun
really starts. The idea of a CD consisting of 99 tracks over the space of 78
minutes is of course simply preposterous. Trust in your favourite canine
Newties then to have a go at it. Even more typically, they manage to pull it
off, the disc seems to hang together tighter than a psychedelic spring loaded
green sweater. The whole thing really does flow in such a way that you even
manage to forget that it's 99 individual tracks that you're listening to,
I've no idea if this was the intention behind the project but it is certainly
proof of how well it was edited and mixed. Playing it back once again as I
write these words I am constantly aware of how it reminds me of UNCLE MEAT
era Zappa, high praise indeed, The Newts really have captured that whole
musique-concrete feel perfectly. And for once the cover description is right,
this really is one of the most groundbreaking and mind-boggling albums that
you will ever hear! A track by track breakdown is obviously out of the
question, and, as I've already hinted, is almost meaningless anyhow as the
