Journey To The End Of Night was a kind of sequel to A Cage
Went In Search Of A Bird as a various artists collection of independent
electronics and experimental music artists. No new-wave or industrial music
this time, it was a more of a cosmic affair, at least mostly so, with a
couple of oddball tracks for variety.
Originally planned as a numbered
edition of 500 copies, only 3-400 or so were actually issued as such. Some
were also sold as single cassettes in regular cases.
The cover art was by Nigel Harris
(third member of Zircon & The Burning Brains), inspired by his release
title or vice-versa, and maybe a reference to the same named novel by
Louis-Ferdinand Céline that's commonly quoted as "a literary symphony of
cruelty and violence that hurtles through the improbable travels of the petit
bourgeois" although such subject matter is at odds with the
oft-disquieting beauty of much of the music that it contains.

Kevin O'Neill - Scylla And Charybdis which also features on his
Departures 2xCDR collection on Auricle.
Aeolian String Ensemble - Sucker For A Soft Sob Story also exists as a
slightly different version on one of their own releases, and is not an
"incognito Nurse With Wound project" as originally reported,
although Steve Stapleton is involved.
Biomechanoid - Voyage To The Dark Side features as a bonus track on
the CD reissue of Atmospheres & Melodies Inspired By The Paintings Of
H.R. Giger (Ultimate Transmissions UTCD 003).
Wolfgang Hertz - Return 9 is included in the Aussenminister / Model 81
- 2CD Set Anthology 1980-1981 (Auricle AMCDR 101/102) collection.
